Surprise! Can not find hosting providers for my needs. Missed something?

Hello!

I am looking for a way to switch from google apps to Zimbra. I found 2 classes of options:
  • VPS-based. Ordering VPS, installing and maintaining Zimbra software myself
  • SaaS. Everything is maintained by hosting company and I need to pay for mailboxes. Similiar model to google apps.

However, I want something in the middle. I do not want to deploy and maintain Zimbra on top of VPS myself and want the hosting company to be responsible for this. However, I want to have the full administartive access. E.g., I do not want to be limited by number of users and do not want to pay per user. I want to pay for the RAM, disk space, CPU etc. But not for the mailboxes and features activated. And I do want to be able to activate all the features of Zimbra which I need. Including LDAP.

The closest example of such service is wush.net - you pay for the hosting. Backup, updates, operation system layer (ssh upgrades, ftp upgrades etc) is on wush.net's shoulders. They even upgrade bugzilla per user request. But the user has full admin access, cpanel and ssh. The benefit for the user: no need to follow security vulerability reports about all the the public interfaces. no need to upgrade the system by him/herself etc. In brief: cutting the maint. costs.

Is anybody aware of the similiar service for Zimbra?

Thanks in advance, Vitaly

Zimbra to Exchange 2010

Probably the wrong place to ask this question, but need to know! A client wants to migrate from Zimbra 7.2.1_GA_2790.RHEL5_64_20120815212042 CentOS5_64 FOSS edition to Exchange 2010. Can the Zimbra Migration Wizard for Exchange be run in reverse to move the mail from Zimbra to Exchange? Or does it only work from Exchange to Zimbra? It would make sense that it goes in both directions (in the case of a migration) in case you need to roll back a mailbox for whatever reason.

Thanks.

Im moving my old zimbra 5.X to new 8.0.
All works fine, but when i try zmmailbox -z -m user@domain postRestUtl '//?fmt=tgz' user.tgz
i get this error:
ERROR: service.FAILURE (system failure: POST failed, status=413 upload too large: file '/': upload too large)

After a lot of reading, i saw some ppl with same problem... some ppl say to do: zmprov modifyConfig zimbraFileUploadMaxSize 500000000000 ( i put this number in an arbitrary way, to test) But problem persists..
Small backups, like 200m 300M works so well!

I have backup files till 2.5GB...

Migration issue from 32Bit to 64Bit Ubuntu

Hi,

I want to migrate my Ubuntu 8.04 based 7.2.1 32 bit Zimbra installation to Ubuntu 10.04 64 Bit. This will be the 64bit foundation for the further upgrade to Zimbra 8. I followed the guidance Network Edition: Moving from 32-bit to 64-bit Server - Zimbra :: Wiki . A test of the zimbra install before moving data to the 64 bit platform was successful. After moving data and certificates I repeatedly ran into issues. I did the whole procedure 3 times with the same unsuccessful result.

When starting zimbra, I get the following output:

Code:

zimbra@mail:~$ zmcontrol start
Host mail.server
        Starting ldap...Done.
Unable to determine enabled services from ldap.
Enabled services read from cache. Service list may be inaccurate.
        Starting zmconfigd...Done.
        Starting logger...Failed.
Starting logswatch...ERROR: service.FAILURE (system failure: ZimbraLdapContext) (cause: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path validation failed: java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException: signature check failed)
zimbra logger service is not enabled! failed.

        Starting mailbox...Done.
        Starting antispam...Done.
        Starting antivirus...Done.
        Starting snmp...Done.
        Starting spell...Done.
        Starting mta...Done.
        Starting stats...Done.

It seems to me that there is a problem with the certificates and LDAP. The following certificates where transferred from the 32bit to the 64bit system:

/opt/zimbra/conf/*.crt ==> nginx/slapd/smtpd
/opt/zimbra/conf/*.key ==> nginx/slapd/smtpd
/opt/zimbra/java/jre/lib/security/cacerts
/opt/zimbra/mailboxd/etc/keystore

I made sure that all these files have the same ownership and permissions as from the original install on the 64 bit server

How can I fix these issues?

New Installation of Zimbra, with migration from Exchange

Hi Folks,

I have a few questions that are probably pretty easy. This is a tiny installation of about a dozen users.

First, I am running Fedora 17 on my server, but I see no ZCS (OSE) for Fedora 17. I see RHEL 6. Which is the correct version of ZCS for Fedora 17?

Second, I am considering factoring out the server question above by using the appliance, which I understand runs in a virtual machine and consequently won't care which server software I have, but I only see appliance configurations that include ZCS (NE) and I want to use ZCS (OSE). Where do I find the Open Source Edition Appliance?

Third, I assume I can copy the appliance to disk and just run it without the overhead of a hypervisor, which also obviates the server software question. Am I right?

Thanks for the help,

Chris.

Split Domain - Exchange Configuration

We are deploying Zimbra in a test environment for evaluation purposes. We have an exchange 2010 server we want to be the primary server.

The exchange server receives messages from the zimbra server. However, the exchange server does not send email to the Zimbra server. The queue lists 'local loop detected.'

I have configured a send connector to send email to zimbra-server.mydomain.com to the zimbra server's IP address as a relay host and it has a cost of 1.

Exchange Configuration:

1. Send and Receive connectors for Zimbra server.
2. For the user hosted on the Zimbra server, I created a mail user and associated with the Active Directory account as follows:
a. Enable-MailUser -Identity 'user@mydomain.com' -Alias 'user' -ExternalEmailAddress 'SMTP:user@zimbra-server.mydomain.com' -PrimarySMTPAddress 'user@mydomain.com'

Zimbra Configuration

Run commands from CLI:
1. $ zmprov md mydomain.com zimbraMailCatchAllAddress @mydomain.com
2. $ zmprov md mydomain.com zimbraMailCatchAllForwardingAddress @mydomain.com
3. $ zmprov md mydomain.com zimbraMailTransport smtp:test-exchange.mydomain.com:25
4. $ zmprov mcf zimbraMtaRelayHost test-exchange.mydomain.com:25
5. $ zmprov mcf zimbraMtaDnsLookupsEnabled FALSE

I am not sure where this is failing on the exchange server. Any ideas?

Hello All,
i'm in the middle of account migration in zimbra (e.g user@domain.com) and to make migration smoothly i made another server with address user@sub.domain.com as forwarding address for user@domain.com. i could do this one by one with this command
as zimbra user :
zmprov ma user@domain.com zimbraPrefMailForwardingAddress user@sub.domain.com
but it would be not efective if i type it one by one, is there any way to make this automatically
loop on user list and execute command till the last user (i have 2000 user)?

Generic IMAP to Zimbra migration - logs

Greetings,

I am migrating a generic IMAP server to zimbra for about 30 mailboxes. Using 8.0.0 on Ubuntu 12.04, in the admin web interface in Account Migration, I did the Migration Wizard and 13/30 imports failed to finish. Where can I find logs about which inboxes imported and which failed?

I looked in /var/log and /opt/zimbra/log but couldnt find where the success/fail of these imports are logged. There doesnt seem to be any way to get more info about these imports in the web interface either.

Thanks!

Lotus Domino 5.0.6 to Zimbra ZCS 7.2

Hello,

I've just installed Zimbra ZCS 7.2 and I'm looking for how to migrate users, mail, mailbox and attachments from Lotus Domino 5.0.6 to Zimbra.
In this guide: http://files.zimbra.com/website/docs...mino_8.0.0.pdf is written that the Zimbra Migration Wizard can import data from Lotus Domino 5.0.8

I need to import only users and mails, I don't care about calendars, address book, ecc.

What happens if I try to migrate from LD 5.0.6? It's simply fails or, maybe, I can't import everything?

Anyway, if migration with the wizard isn't possibile, is there another way to migrate users and emails?

Thank you in advance.
Maurizio

S\MIME mail reading problem

Hello all!
I have made migration a few mailboxes from our Exchange server, normal mails reading ok, but I have a problem with reading S\MIME encrypted mail (we use native Active Directory PKI from Microsoft)
Does someone has successful experience of migration of such encrypted messages?

Date for e-mail

HI Folks,

I'm moving... I selected a victim account and I moved my "sent mail" with Evolution, on a Fedora 17 notebook. I established both the old and the new accounts as IMAP and I told Evolution to move old/sent mail to new/sent mail and everything work exactly as you's expect and I was quite happy. Then I went to Google Chrome to admire my work and I discovered that, although the Evolution interface preserved the original send times, the Google Chrome interface, displays the time not as send time, but as move time!

So, there are two approaches... One is to change the browser interface to select the correct date, and the other is to modify whatever date the browser interface is using and update it to the sent date. I suspect the both of these problem are similar and depend on being able to parse the message and tease out the sent date.

My question is: Where is the date field that the browser is displaying as the sent date? MySQL database? XML? LDAP?

Thanks for the help,

Chris.

sales inquiries

Hello,

I'm new to the forums, figured I could try and find my answers here.

I've been trying to contact some from VMware Zimbra over the past month using their online submission forms for sales inquiries. We are switching email solutions, currently use Kerio and want off. However, I have yet to hear from anybody from Zimbra.

Are the form submissions answered? How does their phone support work, as I can't get anyone on sales either.

These questions are crucial when evaluating a product/service.

localized Exchagen 2003 to ZCS 8 NE running into empty mailboxes

$

I'm referring to Bug 78300 – Migration does not handle localised outlook accounts appropriately.
Had contacted the support, but the solution would be to sit here and wait till the new ZCS-version would be released, passing time the running Exchange 2003 dies slowly.
So I have to react in a way the business can go on.

My observation:
I tried the MigrationWizard and everything seems to be migrated, minus a few appointments.
All standard mailfolders, like Inbox, Outgoing, Sent are not visible for the user, nor the admin, although they're imported regarding the logs.

I think the MigrationWizard is not able to assign the german "Posteingang" to inbox, like the other folders mentioned above.

Contacts, appointments and own created folders, named different, e.g. "Posteingang_1", are migrated the way they should.

Tasks are imported only when they are in the root of tasks.
If a user has created subfolders in Outlook, the MigrationWizard is noticing them, reporting the correct number of tasks, seems to migrate them in the next step, but in the end only tasks in the root are visible, there are no subfolders.
The logs say something different.

Anybody got a similar behavior? Or everybody is using the US-Version of Exchange for Migration?
Is there a way to get the tasks in the subfolders migrated? We've got users with a large number of tasks that have to be migrated.

Has anyone had any luck migrating mail OUT of zimbra and into another IMAP server using IMAP, specifying an admin user for authentication, but targeting a user's box?

I've found lot of howto's on migrating mail into Zimbra from other IMAP servers using imapsync and stuff like that, but none going the other way.
